Which Shots Are Actually Not Worth Taking? Because courage without aim is just noise in motion. Framing the Question “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” is a useful cliché because it challenges fear. But it is not a complete guide for deciding which shots worth taking deserve your time, energy, and risk. The deeper question is not whether action matters. It is which shots are not worth taking because they cost more attention, integrity, trust, or direction than they can return. The Problem With Taking Every Shot The cliché works because hesitation can be expensive. The apology you never offer cannot heal anything. The idea you never share cannot improve the room. The opportunity you never pursue cannot become a door. But the cliché has a blind spot: it treats every unattempted shot as a loss. That is not true. Some shots are distractions with good lighting.
